Ahhh, nostalgia.

And also proof that you can find anything on eBay. After finding that placemat the other day, I have been consumed by the thought of whether The Plantation still exists. If it does, I can't find it. But, I did find this:

It's actually a postcard of The Plantation Motel, and you can see the restaurant. This makes me so happy.

I also found this:

We used to stay here. Once, I found toenail clippings underneath the pull out sofa. But, it was the first motel I'd ever seen with a kitchenette.

And what about this one?

But, the best feature about The Viking was the pool. It had an observation window that you could see into from the street. To appreciate it in all it's glory, go here.

And I could go on and on. The Balboa, Beach Carousel, Dolphin, Sandcastle, Seahawk, Belvedere, Princess Anne. All places I either stayed or thought I would love to stay. Good, good times.

Oh, yes, I am feeling nostalgic. The Viking was where Mary and Mazie always stayed--I always thought of it as their place. The Aloha was where Josh jumped into the pool when he was still in diapers--before he could swim. Bike rides on the boardwalk, I would love to have a Sunrise breakfast sandwich special from the Belvedere coffee shop. Sweet memories! I love that you have such recall.

Wow, you have a good memory! The pictures all have that air of familiarity for me, but I don't remember specific names or details. After my parents divorced, we used to mooch off of my aunt and uncle who lived in Va. Beach, so we never stayed (I don't think)in any of these motels. Very cool that you were able to find these!
